Sweet Treats Made Healthy!

Quick & healthy food combinations that you can enjoy when you have your next sweet craving!

Heavenly Bananas

Peel and slice bananas lengthwise and lay flat into a baking dish. Drizzle a little maple syrup, sprinkle a dash of cinnamon and top with walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and golden brown. Remove and let cool just a little and serve with a dollop of your favorite yogurt!

Berry Parfait

Take out some pretty parfait glasses and enjoy a delicious healthy treat! Select your favorite berries and yogurt. Start by alternating layers in the glass and top off with some granola, trail mix, favorite nuts or a little chocolate drizzle!

Sweet Medley

Combine some ground flax with graham cracker crumbs, then mix with a little maple syrup in a small glass and layer with with vanilla yogurt, and top off with your favorite choice of fresh berries!

Baked Sliced Apples

Slice up apples and top them with granola, walnuts, or almonds! Add raisins, cinnamon (a must!) and your favourite sweetener. Bake in the oven at 375°F until apples are soft and serve topped with vanilla yogurt!

Dipped Strawberries

Dip whole strawberries in yogurt and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Leave in the freezer until yogurt has hardened, and enjoy! Also try with chocolate for a special treat!

Tasty Cones

Fill ice cream cones with vanilla yogurt, layers of graham cracker crumbs, and top with dried cranberries and almonds! Also try layering in fruits. Eat with a spoon, or let freeze while propped upright in the freezer!

Rich Banana Chunks

Chop a banana into 1-inch pieces and coat lightly with peanut butter and a little chocolate drizzle. Insert a toothpick or popsicle stick for easy eating! Sprinkle Rice Krispies on top, or invent something new with a different cereal or tasty topping. This is a real fun and easy treat to create with the kids!

Grillin' Pineapple

Grab yourself a fresh pineapple and cut up some nice thick pineapple rings and fire up the BBQ! Place those rings on the grill and brush on maple syrup. Simply grill until nice hot n golden in color and serve with a side of your favorite frozen yogurt or sherbet ice-cream!

'The Good Stuff'

Make some lemon pie filling and top with fresh berries, and skip the crust! Alternatively, just sprinkle a little graham cracker crumbs on top and a few of your favorite fresh berries!

Strawberry Sensation

Want a cool treat? wash up some fresh strawberries and place in a blender and blend well. You can leave a few small chunks when blending. Once blended, add a little sweetener to desired sweetness and mix well. Pour strawberry blend into any popsicle mould and place in freezer to serve as an amazing healthy cool treat!

Healthy living isn't about saying no to everything! Try being creative and to find new ways to enjoy new found favourites! There is no need to focus on what you shouldn't have, simply stay focused on everything you can have! Being healthy should never feel like a punishment.
